About Us

  • Mission Statement
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Kappa Alpha Theta exists to nurture each member throughout her college and alumnae experience and to offer a lifelong opportunity for social, intellectual and moral growth as she meets the higher and broader demands of mature life.

    What We Are
Theta is an international organization with college and alumnae chapters throughout the United States and Canada.  The Fraternity is a non-profit Indiana corporation, with Headquaters in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Fraternity's philanthropic arm, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, supports the Fraternity's educational programs and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Theta's international philanthropy.  The Foundation annually awards more than $1 million in graduate and undergraduate scholarships to members.

    Purpose

The intellectual ambition of the Fraternity shall be the attainment of highest scholarship.  The social aim of the Fraternity shall be to exercise the widest influences for good.  The moral aim of the Fraternity shall be the standard of love.

    Activities

Each year the UK Thetas participate in nearly every campus wide event including K Week, Homecoming, and DanceBlue.  We also participate in over 40 Greek events a year such as Greek Sing, Watermelon Bust, various intramurals, and Greek Service Week. We even host our own event, Stomp-A-Palooza, to raise money for our philanthropy, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  Last year alone, our chapter raised over $4,000 for CASA and their programs.  All of these events allow us to have some fun with UK students all across campus while also giving back to the University and charitable organizations across the country.

Thetas are involved in organizations on campus and throughout the community.  We have sisters who are UK Ambassadors, College Ambassadors, Student Government Senators, Kentucky Kernel staff, and athletic tutors.  We are also proud to be active in Panhellenic, The Student Development Council, Student Activities Board, Student Volunteer Services, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, just to name a few.  Being an active part of campus allows our chapter to have a voice in what goes on at the University of Kentucky.
